Start your university adventure! Here is the mandatory step-by-step process. We recommend starting the procedures 6 to 9 months in advance.

STAGE 1: Planning and Homologation

The first step is to validate your current studies and obtain official recognition to access the Spanish education system. Planning is key to meeting all deadlines.

9 Months Before: Diploma Homologation

Start the homologation process for your High School diploma through the Ministry of Education. Waiting time: 3-6 months.

6-7 Months Before: UNEDasiss Accreditation

Apply for your UNEDasiss Accreditation to certify your admission grade (based on a 10-point scale).

4-5 Months Before: PCE Preparation

If you are aiming for a degree with a high admission cutoff (Medicine, Engineering, etc.), prepare for the Specific Competency Exams (PCE).

Why are PCE exams necessary?

The grade obtained through homologation (UNEDasiss Accreditation) is only scored out of 10. To compete for the most in-demand spots at public universities, it is essential to take up to four subjects in the Specific Competency Exams (PCE).

Maximum Admission Grade:

  • 10 Points: With UNEDasiss Accreditation only.
  • 14 Points: UNEDasiss Accreditation + 2 best weighted PCE scores.
PCE Registration: Ordinary Session (Feb–Apr), Extraordinary Session (Jul).

STAGE 3: Application Paths (Public vs. Private)

The admission path varies depending on the university. Choose your pre-registration route by understanding its requirements and deadlines.

STAGE 4: Student Visa

The visa must be processed in your country of origin and should be initiated immediately upon receiving your Letter of Admission.

STAGE 5: Costs and Formalization

Variation in University Tuition Fees (Public)

Tuition fees for Bachelor’s degrees at public universities vary depending on each Autonomous Community.

Trámites Post-Llegada:

  • Empadronamiento: Registrar tu domicilio en el Ayuntamiento.
  • TIE: Solicitar la Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero en la policía.

Spanish Level: A B2 level (DELE/SIELE) is generally required.
